Where a private clinic fits alongside the municipality
Al Khawaneej residents know the Dubai Municipality veterinary section, because it is in the area. The municipality handles official services, such as pet registration and the rules around animal control. A private clinic does a different job. It looks after the individual animal: illness, vaccination, surgery, dental work and follow-up.
The two work together. We microchip your cat or dog and record the rabies vaccine. Those are the details registration asks for. For current registration steps and fees, follow the municipality's own channels. We do not act for it and cannot issue anything in its name.
We are not the nearest private vet to every street in Al Khawaneej. For a simple vaccine, a closer clinic is a fair choice. Owners make the 20 to 25 minute drive for late hours and for imaging, lab and an inpatient ward in one place. Households with many animals often book a home visit instead. A consultation is AED 120.

Most drivers take Al Khawaneej Road to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), then head south towards Ras Al Khor. From the eastern side, Emirates Road (E611) is an alternative. The time is an off-peak estimate. The Directions button gives live traffic.

Living with pets in Al Khawaneej
Large plots and many animals
Villas and farms here often keep 5 or more cats, plus salukis or guard dogs. One sick cat can infect the rest within a week. Vaccinate the whole group on the same date. A home visit covers them all in one booking.
Cats and dogs only
Farms in Al Khawaneej also keep horses, camels, goats, falcons and poultry. We do not treat those. Petflix is a cat and dog clinic, and the equipment and medicines are chosen for them. For other species you need a vet who works with that animal.
Ticks on farm and yard dogs
Dogs that sleep outdoors near livestock pick up ticks all year. Tick fever causes fever, pale gums and bleeding. It is confirmed with a blood test in the clinic's lab. Check between the toes and inside the ears every week.
Outdoor cats and fight wounds
Unneutered males on open plots fight over territory. Bite wounds turn into abscesses within 2 to 4 days, and fighting spreads FIV. Castration is AED 199 and reduces roaming. A cat with a swollen face or leg should be seen the same day.
Shade is not enough in August
An outdoor kennel in shade still reaches over 40°C in summer. Dogs need an air-conditioned room from late morning to sunset between June and September. Short-nosed breeds and thick-coated dogs are at the highest risk. Collapse from heat is an emergency.
After evening prayers
Many families here prefer to come late. The clinic is open until 12 AM every day, and the roads are clear after 9 PM. Message on WhatsApp before you set off. The nurse tells you the waiting time and holds a slot.
